THE ICEBREAKER QUICKIE ON THE BEACH
Is an off road duathlon, with beach runs on hard sand and a mountain bike stage which uses the awesome tracks in Bottle Lake Forest Park. The event starts with a there-and-back 4km run on the beach, followed by a 13km mountain bike ride and ends with a there-and-back 2km beach run. Entries are open to individual male & female (open and vet categories), and teams (mixed, all male or all female).
Icebreaker have also come to the party with heaps of awesome spot prizes.
THE LOCATION
Broad Park, Waimairi Beach, North New Brighton
Head down Broadpark Road off Beach Road and as it turns left you'll see a carpark to your right. That is where the Start/Finish line will be.
THE SCHEDULE
6:45am - Registration opens
7:45am - Registration close
7:50am - Race briefing
8:00am - RACE START
10:00am - Prize giving
THE FACILITIES
There are men's and women's toilets located at the Southern end of Broad Park
An outdoor cold water shower is located right next to the Start/Finish line
The Beach Cafe is back down Broadpark Road (opens at 9am though)
THE PARKING
Limited parking in the car park where the Start/Finish line is located, but there's plenty along Broadpark Road as well as Beach road.
