A Quickie In The Forest - Races Rules
Read carefully: Non-compliance with any of the Race Rules may result in disqualification of the competitor from this event.
We’ll be in a forest, so absolutely no fires!
Approved cycle helmets (NZ safety standard) must be worn at all times when riding the MTB leg.
Always look out for other competitors, if anyone’s in strife – help them out.
Keep control of your bike. No jumps in this event please, especially if you’re in a single file group.
Follow the event signs. The designated track is very clear, but we don’t want anyone taking a wrong turn.
Sand – along the Southern Pegasus Bay Track there are small pockets of lose sand, caution is required here, if in doubt use a low gear or get off and walk your bike.
Competitors must not deviate from the obvious track or attempt to take shortcuts.
If competing in a team, the person cycling must dock bike before tagging runner.
Any competitor withdrawing from the race must inform a Race Marshal at the first possible opportunity after the decision to withdraw is made.
You are not permitted to alter or cut the event number plate in any way.
Asthmatics must carry an inhaler.
Event organisers reserve the right to remove any competitor if they consider they are not capable of safely completing the event.
Please do not leave any rubbish along the route. All food wrappers, drink bottles, tubes etc must be carried to the finish line and not discarded anywhere along the route. (Anyone seen discarding rubbish will be disqualified)
No outside assistance is allowed by support crews to any competitor and no supporters will be allowed to follow riders on the course.
Competitors must attend the pre race briefing 15 minutes before race start.
Competitors must obey instructions from Marshals at all times.
Entries are not transferable.
The race director has a non-appealable right to disqualify for breaches of the rules and credit time for those who help other competitors in crash or injury situations.
While there are no public roads that need to be closed for this event, there still are access roads. These won’t be active during the event but never the less, when crossing any road or 4WD track, treat it as a public road – reduce speed and look both ways before crossing.
The MTB tracks at Bottle Lake Forest Park are mostly easy, but there are a few decent bumps, so there will be signs preceding these areas. Caution is advised here, unless you’re a pro, bum off seat, use your brakes and take it slow.
There are a couple of small forks in the track (maximum 20 metres) but they join back up on to the main track, so taking either is fine.
